ESERA Early Career Researcher Travel Awards
ESERA Early Career Researcher Travel Awards
ESERA is offering travel awards of up to 1.000 euros each to enable ESERA members who are currently enrolled in doctoral studies or who were awarded their doctorate after 1st January 2020 to travel to research venues. The awards are intended to enable early career ESERA members to visit science education researchers with expertise relevant to their project in other countries. At least one of the two countries involved in any proposal must be within Europe. For 2023 the total award fund is 10.000 euros.
The awards are designed for researchers to share existing expertise in order to address an issue of concern in an awardee’s work or to otherwise advance their research efforts. The awards can be used to pay for travel, accommodation and subsistence. Awards are not intended to support attendance at conferences, summer schools or visits that are part of an established collaboration between two institutions. The outcomes of previous awardee activities can be seen on the Early Career Researcher – Travel Fellowship section of the ESERA website.
Applications will be assessed by a two-person panel, including one ESERA Executive Board member, based on the following criteria:
- clarity of intended outcome;
- feasibility of intended outcome;
- likely contribution to professional development of applicant.
The assessment process will also ensure a spread of geographic representation across Europe. Priority will be given to applicants who have not previously received an ESERA travel award. Successful applicants will be expected to ensure that they are adequately insured. Awardees are expected to write a report of 2-3 pages for the ESERA website. We also ask that partial support from ESERA be acknowledged in any publications or conference presentations that relate to the travel award.
