ESERA is offering up to six travel awards, of between 500 and 1000 euros each, to enable people who are currently enrolled in doctoral studies or who were awarded their doctorate after 1st January 2011 to travel to research venues.
The awards are intended to enable early career ESERA members to visit more experienced science education researchers in other (European) countries. The awards are designed for researchers to share existing expertise in order to resolve an issue of concern in an awardee’s work or to otherwise advance their research efforts. The awards can be used to pay for travel, accommodation and subsistence. They are competitive and applications will be judged by a panel of ESERA Executive Board members on the basis of the following criteria:
The EOI should include the following information: your name, your status as a student or a post-doctoral researcher; your home institution; a short description of your research; your planned destination; the purpose of your journey; and an estimated budget. The EOI should not exceed two pages with at least half a page devoted to the purpose of the proposed journey. The EOI must be counter-signed by a representative of the applicant’s institution and by a representative of the institution that the applicant plans to visit. Electronic signatures are acceptable. Please use the template contained in the attached Travel Awards Call 2014 for your proposal.
Applicants must be ESERA members at the time of applying. Travel should take place during 2014. Priority will be given to applicants who have not received an ESERA travel award in the past. Successful applicants will be expected to ensure that they are adequately insured.
Expressions of Interest must be received by 1 December 2013. Successful applicants will be contacted in early January 2014.
Awardees are expected to write a report of 2-3 pages for the ESERA website.
