SMU’s Caruth Institute for Engineering Education (CIEE) is seeking Post Doctoral Fellows. Fellows will work closely with the Executive Director Richard Duschl, CIEE staff, and CIEE affiliated faculty in the Lyle School of Engineering and Simmons School of Education who are participating in STEM education research, development, and/or outreach projects.

The position requires working across K-12 formal school-based and informal out-of-school settings. Primary responsibilities will include assisting with research implementing Improvement Science (IS) and Design-Based Implementation Research (DBIR) methods in urban middle school STEM teaching and learning contexts. The Fellows will also participate in the development and validation of formative and summative assessments targeting science and engineering practices and epistemic reasoning.

The Fellows are expected to assist with data collection and analysis, research proposal writing, and preparation of manuscripts and conference papers.  In addition, the Fellows will have opportunities for supervision and mentoring of graduate research assistants.  

Salary commensurate with experience & qualifications
