Per had been battling cancer with great spirit and determination for several years, and continued to work on science education projects and to supervise and teach students until a short time before his untimely death. He was a thoughtful and insightful science educator whose work has made and will continue to make a significant contribution to the field. He will be missed by all who knew and worked with him.
