Join us at ESERA Conference 2027 in Málaga: Fostering Critical Thinking from Science Education in an Age of Misinformation and Artificial Intelligence
We warmly invite you to the ESERA Conference 2027, which will be held from August 30th to September 3rd in Málaga, Spain. Under the theme Fostering Critical Thinking from Science Education in an Age of Misinformation and Artificial Intelligence, we wish to stimulate fruitful conversations and big ideas within and beyond our community.

The call for proposals for the ESERA 2027 is now open!
The submission deadline is 29 January 2027 at 23:59 (CET, UTC+1).
Our theme: Over the last decade, the notion of a “post-truth” society has emerged, alongside the challenge of “infoxication”. Fake news, digital advertising, online algorithms, social media and the rapid rise of artificial intelligence are transforming how scientific knowledge is produced, communicated and received. Critical thinking has long been a fundamental goal of science education. ESERA 2027 seeks to highlight its educational importance and to offer the science education research community an opportunity to reflect on and discuss how it can be promoted effectively.
Our city: Málaga, in Andalusia, southern Spain. ESERA was last held in Spain in 2005, in Barcelona. The city’s lighthouse, an icon of Málaga since 1817, inspires the conference’s visual identity as a guiding light for the ESERA community.
