We plan to subsume the symposium under the overarching theme of “Complexity in Science|Environment|Health”. In order to give you a an idea about the issue at stake, please read one of our basic SIG texts (Fensham 2012, see here). Complex heterogeneous systems in S|E|H present us with inherently unpredictable behaviour (see also the keynote Hans Fuchs at the last S|E|H mini conference 2016 in Weggis, CH, here).
