Dear colleague,
Some people have been asking, either directly or through email, about how the financial situation in Cyprus is affecting ESERA and whether the ESERA 2013 conference will indeed take place.
I know that this question has direct implications now that the time has come to register for the conference and also to make travel plans.
I am writing to share with you the following information that was provided to me in good faith by the Local Organizing Committee in Cyprus.
- All educational institutions have been exempted from the bank deposit cuts implemented in two of the local banks.
- The University of Cyprus has guaranteed that the ESERA 2013 conference will go ahead and in the case of cancellation for any reason participants will receive a full refund.
I hope this helps all the past and current members of ESERA to make their decisions.
I believe this is an important time to show our support for colleagues in Nicosia who have been working very hard to make ESERA 2013 a successful conference.
Best regards,
Manuela Welzel-Breuer
ESERA President
