Hope and Resilience in Emotion-Sensitive Climate Change Education

Between 6 and 10 july 2026, Utrecht University is hosting a summer school for PhD students and junior postdocs who focus on climate change emotions and climate change education.

This initiative is supported by the European Commission, through the HARP project (www.hopeincce.com)

The summer school will be a unique experience at the intersection of climate change psychology and education research, and include:

  • Keynotes and workshops on research into climate change emotions and emotion-sensitive climate change education.
  • Mentor groups on participants’ own research projects.
  • A day-long field excursion focussing on the Netherlands’ troubled relationship with water, and how this is connected to climate change.

An experienced team of lecturers from Utrecht University, Masaryk University and the University of Vienna are ready to make this a great learning opportunity.

Established in 1995, ESERA aims to enhance scientific
literacy for all through research in science education.

Various professional activities support community building in science education, dissemination of
research findings and professional development of researchers from different career stages.
