ESERA 2025 - Copenhagen

Call for editorial board members, Journal of Research in Science Teaching

The Journal of Research in Science Teaching (JRST) is seeking applications to fill positions on its Editorial Board.

The journal invites applicants from all methodological backgrounds. In particular, we encourage those with strong backgrounds in quantitative, mixed methods, and design studies to apply. We are also especially interested in those with expertise in assessment of learning in science, artificial intelligence, socio-scientific issues, computer science, informal education, multilingual learners,
engineering education, scientific practices, diversity, equity, and inclusion, justice, and anti-deficit frameworks, intersectionality, teacher education/educator preparation, post-secondary science education, and affect, identity, and motivation in science learning contexts.

The engagement of NARST members with the JRST Editorial Board is crucial for ensuring the quality and rigor of the peer review process. Each year, approximately one-third of the Editorial Board member positions are open for new colleagues as outgoing board members conclude their service.

NARST members from our global community who are in good standing, and have published in a toptier, refereed science education research journal, are eligible to apply for this scholarly service. The appointment is for a three-year term (2025-2028), contingent on performance. This year’s appointments begin in April 2025 and will end April 2028 (at the time of the NARST Annual Conference).
Duties include providing timely, in-depth reviews of approximately 12 manuscripts each year. NARST policy requires that Editorial Board members review each JRST manuscript assigned to them. All duties and communication are performed electronically using Research Exchange.
