The travel awards are intended for doctoral students within the field of science centre and museum education to present their own work and participate in discussions of museum education research paradigms with peers and more experienced researchers. The awards can be used to pay for travel, accommodation and subsistence. The applications will be judged by the co-ordinators of the ESERA Special Interest Group on science education in out-of-school contexts, Professor Justin Dillon and Associate Professor Marianne Achiam, based on the following criteria:
- Clarity of intended outcome
- Feasibility of intended outcome
- Likely contribution to applicant’s research
If you are interested in applying for a Travel Award, please send a letter of interest to Marianne Achiam (achiam@ind.ku.dk).
The letter of interest should include:
- Your name
- Your home institution
- The title of your PhD study (a provisional title is acceptable)
- Month and year when you started your PhD studies
- Month and year when you anticipate finishing
- Your mode of study (part-time or full-time)
- A one-page description of your doctoral research
- Questions you would like to reflect upon and discuss during the course in order to further your research
The letter of interest should be no more than two pages; at least half a page should be devoted to how you see the course contributing to your research.
Applicants must be ESERA members at the time of applying. Successful applicants will be expected to ensure that they are adequately insured.
Letters of interest must be received by February 22, 2013. Successful applicants will be contacted in March 2013.
