Intro/ Biography

My responsibility is to organize the ESERA Summer School for doctoral students in 2016. Having a good Local organizing committee, I believe that this SummerIva School will be good experience for both students and staff members. I am a former teacher of mathematics and physics. Immediately after finishing my teacher training I went on in studying psychology. I attained a professorship in educational psychology in 2008. Before that I worked within general psychology research on emotions and motivation. My research interests are therefore divided between these two fields. An example of my recent research on motivation is participation in MARS 500, which was a broad international project of simulated flight to Mars. Within the domain of educational psychology my favourite work recently was participation in two European FP7 projects on inquiry in science education (S-TEAM) and formative assessment (ASSIST-ME). I joined the ESERA community through these collaborations and I find the research and community life of ESERA very interesting and inspiring. Thus organizing the Summer School 2016 is not only a challenge but a pleasure as well.

Some Information about ESERA Summer school 2016 in české Budějovice, Czech Republic

The Summer School will be held under auspices of the rector of Jihoceska Univerzita, which shows that we are very proud to organize such an important meeting of early career and experienced science education researchers. The whole event will take place in the university campus, which provides all the needed services and a very convenient conditions for such an event. In addition to the scientific program we also plan social activities which will introduce the beauty of the city and of the South Bohemia region. Interest in participation is rather high; we have double the applications from student and staff members that we can accomodate. Such a great willingness to participate guarantees a very rich and high quality scientific part of the program. The social program will surely be a significant addition, as the city has a wonderful historical centre, and among others, a visit to UNESCO heritage city Cesky Krumlov is on a list. The review process of applications will be finished by April, 10, as well as the program itself.
