SIG 4: Call for Papers: Special Issue on ‘Two-Eyed Seeing in Education for Sustainability’ in Sustainable Horizons (Elsevier) – Submission Deadline: December 31, 2024

This is a call for a Special Issue entitled ‘Two-Eyed Seeing in Education for Sustainable Development’, in collaboration with Sustainable Horizons, an Open Access journal of the Southern University of Science and Technology, published by Elsevier.

It is sometimes suggested that Two-Eyed Seeing (TES), a synoptic view that combines a holistic and a scientific eye, might be a new and helpful approach to Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). TES was originally introduced by Canadian Indigenous researchers to bring together the strengths of Indigenous and Western knowledge. Some authors insist that the term can only be used in this context. Others argue that it can be expanded beyond Indigenous and non-Indigenous perspectives to include broader areas of education and transfer.

This special issue aims to provide a platform to discuss if and how TES could be helpful in promoting ESD, to debate socio-cultural, philosophical and pedagogical positions, and to provide examples of good practice.
