The Proceedings of ESERA 2015 is an electronic publication for revised and extended papers presented at the ESERA 2015 conference in Helsinki, Finland during 31 August to 4 September, 2015. All papers in the eProceedings correspond to communications submitted and accepted for the ESERA 2015 conference. All proposals to the conference went through a blind review by two or three reviewers prior to being accepted to the conference. A total of 1134 proposals (out of which 78 were symposia) were presented at the conference and in total 326 papers are included in the eProceedings.
The authors were asked to produce updated versions of their papers and take into account the discussion that took place after the presentation and the suggestions received from other participants at the conference. On the whole, the eProceedings presents a comprehensive overview of ongoing studies in Science Education Research in Europe and beyond. This book represents the current interests and areas of emphasis in the ESERA community at the end of 2015. The eProceedings book contains nineteen parts that correspond to the 19 strands represented at the ESERA 2015 conference. The parts are usually co-edited by two or three strand chairs. All formats of presentation (single oral, interactive poster, ICT demonstration/workshop and symposium) used during the conference were eligible to be submitted to the eProceedings. The length of a paper in the eProceedings for a single oral presentation, poster or workshop is 6–12 pages. For the symposium there were two options: The whole symposium could be presented as a single paper of 6–12 pages, or each/any contribution in a symposium could be considered as a separate paper (6–12 pages).
The co-editors carried out a review of the updated versions of the papers that were submitted after the conference at the end of 2015. ESERA or the editors and co-editors do not necessarily endorse or share the ideas and views presented in or implied by the papers included in this book.
Note: Some of these papers may be accepted for inclusion in the Book of Selected Papers to be published in 2017 of the ESERA 2015 conference. In that case those papers will be withdrawn from this publication.
